Abstract:
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new” -Socrates

The rate of change is accelerating and so are the complexities of the problems to be solved. The current educational system, is deeply rooted in the past and does not support the evolving world. There is a growing realisation across many countries globally that our current education system is not fit for purpose and there is a need to re-imagine it.

This paper provides an insight to how a teacher adapted their pedagogy to provided diverse cohorts of students with a learning opportunity. This responsive, flexible pedagogy enabled students to adapt to the dynamic fast-paced world and transfer skills into a range of industries.

This paper is limited to one professional's account of teaching practice, in order to minimise the ethical bias in the reflective accounts. The researcher narrated a true and accurate account of situations, which was partly backed up by images of particular teaching sessions.

The results of this study illustrate that a responsive and flexible pedagogy is effective in higher education, whilst lessening the workload for teachers, bridging the gaps between education and the ‘real world’ scenarios. It enabled students to take ownership of their learning and provided space for class discussions, debates, problem-solving tasks, and collaboration with peers.
