Abstract:
“Whereas a dozen years ago concepts of social enterprise, social entrepreneurship and social entrepreneur were rarely discusses, it is now making breakthroughs on both side on the Atlantic, especially in the EU countries and the United States” (Defourny and Nyssens, 2010). The importance of social entrepreneurship and the changes of society started to interest governments and especially people living in countries after rapid changes in a society due to macroeconomic changes as for example crises. Innovative approach to crises solution requires more holistic view with stronger social responsibility and focus on customers. For this reason even in the educational process and preparation of curricula of educational institutions many countries realized that their demand has been changed and new way of thinking is also required in their study programs. The paper will discuss major changes in this field and especially the existing educational programs and their curricula at selected universities, colleges or the other educational institutions in Europe and in Northern America (the U.S.A. and Canada). Despite of the fact that the cultural differences might be influential on the form of educational programs in specific countries, the studied cases might enlighten some strategic decisions concerning the orienting, the program, segments of students, requirements and even the avenues of possible co-operation in the future with different academic institutions.
