Abstract:
In the nationally accredited Master's in Secondary Education Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching at Miguel Hernandez University, we decided to include active methodologies into the curriculum. To integrate relevant and active practices and contents into the learning experience of future teachers could be a good way to showcase their possibilities when giving classes at Secondary School level.
We planned the program entitled “Aprendo Haciendo” (“Learning by Doing”), as a voluntary program to take place during the first semester from October to January.
The AH program consisted of a 15-hour training program, followed by a 10 hour teaching practice at a High School, under the mentorship of an innovative and active teacher at some high school (secondary level) in Elche. A total of 19 students participated in this pilot program.
This paper presents the complete program and gives results on performance and satisfaction as perceived by students and teachers involved.
