Abstract:
In last years it has been a relevant challenge to include ICT instruction in traditional curricula of training programmes for teachers and future teachers.

In Spain, the Master in Secondary Education Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, is a required course to teach at Secondary level. A subject on ICT FOR LEARNING AND TEACHING was included in our official programme of this master at Miguel Hernández University (UMH), which we will refer from now on as MASTERPROFUMH. This subject has not been a generalized practice in all these type of masters in Spain, though they all have a common base regulated by law.

To design the curriculum for this ICT subject in MASTERPROFUMH, we have tried to cover all the actual trends in education, pedagogy and ICT advances, in order to train future teachers for an efficient use and integration of ICT into their classes. We propose using ICT from a pedagogical perspective: the goal is improving learning whatever the subject and the educational level, and ICT are the motivational tools we propose the teacher to use to get this goal.

The curriculum in our Master is based on the development and use of open educational resources, also using free and open source software. We prepare our future teachers to develop their own open resources by solving tasks related to build their own Personal Learning Environment with the tools provided through the course.
