Abstract:
The article considers the issue of enhancing the productivity of the university faculty through the computerization of research and educational services. The authors analyze the available literature on the matter and the experience of Ural Federal University in computerizing all services that constitute the content of a faculty member's activity today. The authors draw a conclusion that all administrative workflow in a modern university must become paperless and allow for remote, contactless interaction between the faculty member and all departments of the university whenever it suits him or her. Possibilities are considered for the aggregation of all services associated with the various aspects of faculty members' activity in their user accounts. The results are presented of a survey that aimed to assess the time spent by teaching staff on executing an identical set of procedures before and after the introduction of a workflow automation system, and the speed of executing the procedures before and after computerization. The authors argue that the computerization of university services intensifies the work of teaching staff and make them more focused on getting the best out of their instructional and research competencies. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the possibility of the intensification of the work of faculty members at a university by converting all workflow processes into a paperless format.
