Abstract:
The aim of the paper is focused on the evaluation of e-learning materials and the teaching method project-based learning at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Machine Design. The materials and innovative approach to teaching were realized within the project “Exemplary developmental projects from industry for reinforcing the practical knowledge of future mechanical engineers”.

The article introduces the concept of e-learning materials that contain practical information about design projects from technical practice. Specifically, the materials consist of the 3-dimensional computer-aided models, all important technical descriptions, basic calculation reports, computational analysis, drawings, etc. All of these individual parts provide all primary information about the structure of the machine or device and interpret their functions and features. After finalization of the project we implemented new learning materials into teaching. We realized that the materials are an excellent source for project-based learning. How and in what kind of subjects we have implemented the materials is described in the article.

The important part was evaluation of the project, implementation and impact on the quality of teaching. Materials were consulted and evaluated by specialists from the engineering industry. Discussion of the materials was conducted with colleagues. Questionnaires were given to students. Gathered information, opinions and comments were processed and evaluated. Based on the results, the materials were corrected and the project was brought to a successful conclusion.
