Abstract:
The ability to identify the role of internal communication in proper management control from prototype design, pre-series production to mass production in the company is very important for each member of the project team and project leaders. Project planning is a set of different rules and it is divided into different phases of project management. According to Project Management Institute (PMI) there are 5 project phases: Initiation phase, Plan phase, Executive phase, Monitoring and Controlling phase, Closing phase. Topics such as how to solve operational problems and occurring crisis situations in project management, the ability to analyze and evaluate measured data, work with spreadsheets are theoretically presented to the students at Slovak University of Technology (STU) through the pedagogic process in the subject " Production and Project planning of production systems". This subject had to be taken by all students of bachelor and master studies at the Institute of production technologies in the program "Production devices and systems". The first part of the article reflects the theoretical information that is presented to the students as the theoretical knowledge needed to gain a basic overview of the functioning of project management. This includes basic information such as project definition, project planning, project phases, determination of the needed machines to produce the required amount of products, design of the material flow of the work piece to achieve the final product and capacity utilization of the machines. The second part of the paper describes the collaboration of a project manager with more than 10 years of experience in project management in the automotive industry, who is also a postgraduate of STU and more specifically a graduate of the given discipline "Production and project planning of production systems". The previous theoretical information from the first part of the article will be developed directly into practice and the detailed solution of project management will be shown and also the practical background will be added for integration into the teaching practice at STU. The new theoretical considerations necessary for the proper functioning of project management will be shown in detail in the content of the article. There are many sources about project management and its planning, but the important thing is the view and its application in practice. We will not be able to prepare students for practice in the school environment unless this information from practice is shared by project specialists and managers. There is a need to link theory and practice, and this shared comprehensive information and experience of project managers use to enrich the learning process and the development of learning texts.
