Abstract:
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a migration of universities towards E-Learning was generated. This represents a great challenge for teachers and universities who must be committed to positive learning experiences in their students. It is a well-established assumption that no pedagogical approach can replace the pinnacle of formal education due to direct interaction between teacher and student. Faced with this context, the country's private universities have responded quickly with the start of classes through E-Learning, while many public universities have shown serious limitations for its implementation. An E-learning platform is a web application that integrates a set of tools for online teaching-learning. One of the factors for the success of E-Learning is the satisfaction of the students and its determining factors which have been extensively investigated. However, there is little research that compares student satisfaction by type of university. The objective of the study was to compare the levels of satisfaction in the use of e-learning in nursing students from a public and private university. The focus of the present study was quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional design. The sample was made up of 2 groups of 30 nursing students from a public and private university in Peru. The students come from a research workshop, carried out under the E-learning modality. The instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire with 11 items and 3 dimensions. Data collection was carried out by sending electronic forms. The results show that the average age in the public and private university was 24.97 +/- 2.205 vs 22.73 + / 2.273, respectively. The level of satisfaction of students in the public university was medium in 76.7% (n = 23), while in the private university it was high in 90% (n = 27). Regarding the dimensions, the majority had a medium level of satisfaction in the public university, while it was high in the private university. The satisfaction variable was subjected to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, where the significance index was 0.001 (p <0.01). Therefore, the use of non-parametric tests was chosen. The U Mann-Whitney mean difference test obtained a significance index of 0.000 (p <0.05), so it can be affirmed with statistical evidence that there is a significant difference between the satisfaction level of the students of a university public and private university students. The results provided by this study may allow the educational institutions studied to generate spaces for analysis on the factors involved in the satisfaction of students with E-learning. In addition, they offer empirical justifications for public universities to improve their educational offerings through these platforms. Keywords:
