Abstract:
The new European Higher Education Space supposes important challenges, between them the methodological change and the adequacy of the programs to the new social and technological situation. The adequacy of the new Degrees to the current demands implies defining adequately the profile of capabilities, both basic and specific that are needed for the performance of a profession. In the area of the engineering, it constitutes a great opportunity to guarantee capabilities of social and anthropologic type, which joined to the specific, are very important for the exercise of this profession. Inside this group of capabilities, there are the linked ones to social and communication skills, managerial development and emotional intelligence development. Recent investigations have revealed the direct relation between this type of capabilities and the improvement in the results of the work, included the productivity and the own personal satisfaction.
On the base of field studies realized in the area of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, we show information of the opinions that have the engineers relating to the capabilities of emotional character, that they are fundamental for the correct performance of this profession. This profile of capabilities, incorporated in the topics of the new study programme of Engineering, will allow to form professionals with an excellent scientific and technological knowledge, but also, with personal very necessary capabilities in the environment of work in which they are going to interact in the present moment and of future. We suggest, in the light of these results, methodological offers of educational intervention for the development and evaluation of this type of capabilities in the new formative offers of the higher education. Keywords:
