Abstract:
Algebra is one of mathematics most discussed topics. Some students have difficulties in understanding the basic concept of Algebra. The multimedia technology has been a big help in the education field that able to ease the understanding of educational content. This study intended to investigate the effect of four differentiated learning materials on the same learning topic. The respondent in this study was the first semester engineering students in Malaysian polytechnics. The learning strategies that were incorporated in the learning materials are Graduated Difficulty, Concept Attainment, Inductive Learning and Real-World application. The respondents were required to use the developed application in computer lab and the learning gain results were measured using a pretest and post test result. The research finding shows that there are significant differences between students that learned with differentiated learning strategies. Students that are presented with learning material that show real-world application have higher learning gain that the other groups. Keywords:
