Abstract:
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges play vital role in equipping South African youth to be highly skilled for jobs. Hence, TVET Colleges introduced the new programmes that will assist the youth so that they can be ready for the world of economy. The study employed a qualitative method and the researcher used face to face method to interview the 15 lecturers at selected TVET Colleges in Mpumalanga Province. Data were analysed using relevant codes and presented with some verbatim. The findings show that there’s a need for lecturers to be trained for Practical skills in Electronic Control and Digital Electronics (ECDE) subjects in TVET Colleges in Mpumalanga Province and also it will be proper for identified colleges to appoint lecturers who are experienced with practical skills. The researchers recommended that further research in other provinces be done. It was also recommended that the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) should standardize the qualification that will be offered specifically for TVET Colleges in relation to ECDE subjects’ practical skills and also lecturers should be allowed more to time to visit industrials to further their experiences to be able to prepare students properly.
