Abstract:
Virtual production, a groundbreaking technology that has reshaped the filmmaking industry, can now revolutionize the production of rich multimedia web assets for education, compatible with PCs and VR glasses. This paper explores the application of a new methodology for using virtual production as a process where the teacher actions are recorded as 3D data and video simultaneously. By harnessing the power of webgl and game engines like Unreal Engine and Unity, educators can interact in the recording, creating an unparalleled and new learning experience for students.

This paper explores virtual production's transformative impact on both formal and non-formal education. In the context of formal education, virtual production opens new frontiers of engagement and understanding. Students can explore subjects from multiple perspectives, interact with virtual props, manipulate objects, and engage with simulated scenarios, enabling deeper comprehension and knowledge retention. The presenter's ability to bring lessons to life in an interactive manner enhances student participation and enthusiasm for learning. Beyond formal education, virtual production offers immense benefits in non-traditional education settings, such as corporate training. Cost-effective and realistic simulations can be created, providing learners with practical experiences in controlled environments. From complex technical training to interpersonal skills development, virtual production studios offer a powerful toolset for preparing individuals for real-world challenges. Additionally, the geographical barriers that once limited access to quality education can be overcome through virtual production. With expert educators and presenters virtually transported to learners worldwide, underserved and remote communities can now access top-notch educational content.

A controlled test has been developed with 20 teachers form different areas to test the system efficiency and methodologies and determine the minimum technical requirements for an independent producer. Implementing a small virtual production studio for online teaching and training requires careful planning and investment in equipment and technology. Key components include selecting a suitable studio with cameras, green screens, and lighting equipment to integrate the presenter into the virtual environment seamlessly.

Virtual production represents an incipient paradigm shift in online education and training. Immersing educators and learners in dynamic virtual environments redefine engagement and knowledge acquisition. As technology advances and prices drop for specialized equipment, embracing the potential of virtual production becomes essential for educational institutions and organizations, paving the way for a future where immersive online learning becomes the cornerstone of modern education.
