Abstract:
This paper presents the ongoing results of the EDINSOST project [1], in which nine Spanish universities and 15 university degrees are involved. The project seeks for the innovation and learning enhancement of university students by proposing a training, from which graduates would be capable of resolving the most crucial ethical challenges facing our society by integrating sustainability competences.
Universities are institution aimed to create and disseminate knowledge through research and teaching, but also committed to the possible solutions and alternatives to the socio-environmental problems our current society faces. Thus, the challenge for future professionals is to gain competences in sustainability to find solutions for the different global issues, which ethically involved not only environmental problems but also the seek for a more socially fair world, and an equitable and viable long-term economies.
According to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development adopted at the United Nations, and aiming to developed the sustainability competencies, in this project we developed a map, as a proposal of training. The competences map proposed in this paper has been successfully adapted to several undergraduate degrees in education (Primary Education, Pre-School Education, Pedagogy and Social Education) and a master degree programme in Environmental Education. In this paper the process of designing and the application of the map is described; finally, the revised map is presented as a proposal of transversal ethical training for university students in the educational Degrees.
