Abstract:
This paper presents a pedagogical framework that integrates Lego® Serious Play® (LSP) with coaching‑driven learning dynamics and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to support instructional innovation in higher education. While LSP is widely recognized for fostering creativity, engagement and deep reflection through hands-on model construction, its implementation often depends on the facilitator’s ability to design effective sessions, guide meaningful reflective processes, and accompany students as they construct and interpret their models.

The proposed framework introduces GenAI not as an active participant in the LSP session, but rather as a support tool in two specific phases external to the dynamic itself:
(1) the pre‑session design phase, where AI assists educators in generating context‑aligned scenarios, prompts and challenge questions; and
(2) the post‑session feedback phase, where AI helps synthesize ideas emerging from the students’ narratives, and proposes potential next steps for learning, coaching progression or instructional refinement.

This approach preserves the authenticity, embodied cognition and emotional depth intrinsic to LSP, while enhancing the educator’s capacity to prepare richer learning experiences and to provide more structured, actionable feedback aligned with coaching principles. Crucially, the model reinforces the educator’s role as a learning companion, supporting students through the reflective and meaning‑making phases without interfering in the autonomy and student‑led interpretation central to LSP.

Preliminary observations suggest that this AI‑supported design‑and‑feedback model strengthens students’ reflective depth, improves coherence between activity goals and outcomes, and helps educators scale LSP‑based methodologies with greater consistency. The contribution of this work lies in articulating a replicable instructional design framework, a library of AI‑generated coaching prompts, and a method for transforming post‑LSP insights into pedagogical next steps. This proposal aims to advance innovative, high‑impact teaching practices by combining experiential learning, coaching methodology and emerging AI capabilities in a coherent and ethically grounded manner.
