Abstract:
An educational review in Robotics engineering highlights the tight relationship between several subjects. This fact provides the opportunity to use new learning techniques like active learning or inquiry-based learning. In particular, in this paper, we propose a project-based learning involving three subjects: Intelligent Systems, Perception Systems and Computer Vision. So, the project proposal consists in the development of an assistive robotic application for disabled people. Given the complexity of this problem, students require all the knowledge acquired while taking the above subjects in order to obtain a viable solution. In addition, the wide variety of possible solutions and problems that arise when working in real scenarios results in an enriching experience that engage students during all the project development. This involvement provides the students with new skills such as autonomy, research, planning, creativity or data analysis. Additionally, the students learn to work in a team, develop communicative skills and become aware of social concerns, key issues in any engineering career. Keywords:
