Abstract:
The interdisciplinary project Art&Maths Educative FanZines was carried out on the occasion of International Mathematics Day (14 March) 2022 with students enrolled in the subjects Didactics of Numerical Operations and Measurement, and Plastic and Visual Education of the second year of the Bilingual Primary Education Degree at the UCO (University of Cordoba, Spain).

The participants, working in pairs, were asked to create a fanzine that was treated as an educational and artistic object. Each fanzine was configured on the basis of a specific folding of a DIN A3 sheet, which allowed various geometric concepts to be addressed, and consisted of 8 pages (DIN A6 size) to work on the educational proposal on one side and a poster with an illustrated quote related to Mathematics on the other side.

In each issue of the publication, various mathematical topics were developed aimed at primary school children, such as: explanations of alternative algorithms for basic operations; proposals for solving and creating problems; activities based on traditional games (sudoku, card games...); mathematical stories with hidden problems and data; images of nature with mathematical eyes; cryptography methods; or maths-magic tricks.

In total, 37 issues of the magazine Art&Maths Educative FanZines were (self-)published, which the students gave away, explained and exhibited at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the UCO over a period of two weeks.

This work presents the detailed proposal of this learning proposal and some of the creations made by the students. The relationship between Mathematics and Art developed by the students is analysed and, finally, several positive aspects and difficulties detected during the implementation of the project are discussed.
