Abstract:
OPEMIL is an administration unit that provides assistance, management and processing about International Mobility, In-Company Internships and Employability Programmes of the Faculty of Science, University of Alicante. Related to the mobility area, our aim is to provide information and advice to students and teachers of the Faculty of Science, and to incoming students and teaching staff from other Spanish or foreign universities. We provide information to free movers (students and staff) as well as SICUE (students), ERASMUS (students and staff) and NON-EUROPEAN students. In general, mobility was scarce during the last 5 years at the Faculty mainly due to the following reasons: global and national economic crisis, rules related to courses validation and students’ language skills deficiency. Recently, new efforts have been done at the Faculty of Science in order to promote and support national and international mobility: New grant calls supported by the Faculty, new connections to many foreign universities and content courses in English for incoming students. Besides, seminars focused on mobility programmes have also been offered to own students, paying special attention to the specific information about their degrees in foreign universities. On the basis of the mobility numbers during the last two academic courses (incoming and outgoing students and teaching staff), we concluded that this strategy is reinforcing mobility. This work summarised the most important goals reached since 2014 in terms of mobility participation at the Faculty of Science. Keywords:
