Abstract:
The High Performance Manufacturing Group of the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao is always looking for new and spreading ways to improve the knowledge in order to teach according to the latest innovations. One of the main fields of engineering takes care of analyzing the different elements integrated in machine-tools such as gears. Nowadays, there are a lot of companies whose production is based on the wide range of gears manufacturing (straight, helical, spiral bevel gear). Manufacturing gears without previous knowledge presents a new challenge for the company. In these cases, the company must find outside knowledge. From this idea the ENNGRANA project has been developed joining together University and company.

This paper shows how theoretical concepts of gears must be transmitted to a company and what documentation is needed considering the new technologies that are used for making gears. Besides, considering the existing differences between people in formation process, qualified people, engineers or workshop employees, the practical lessons must be adapted to their different needs. Being productivity the main objective of the project.
