Abstract:
Water quality is a critical global concern due to its impact on both ecosystems and human health. In Pachuca, Hidalgo, the use of flooded mine water to supply the local population was proposed, raising concerns about the safety of this measure and its potential health implications.

The present research aimed to provide an educational and dynamic perspective on water quality in mines in the Pachuca region. By compiling news articles and findings from various institutions, this study sought to expand knowledge and understanding of the topic among the student community and the government of the state of Hidalgo.

A fundamental part of this methodology included the implementation of workshops aimed at high school students. These workshops, of an informal nature, were designed to facilitate interactive learning and foster discussion among young people. Through participatory activities, students explored the challenges associated with water management and developed a practical understanding of the implications of its sustainable use. These meetings also served for students to generate proposals and express their opinions on evidence-based public policies.

Interdisciplinary collaboration was essential in addressing these complex environmental challenges. By integrating disciplines such as geology, public health, and education, the aim was to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of issues related to water quality and to encourage effective and informed community participation in its management.
