Abstract:
The tutorial lectures are essential functions, which are included in the teaching process to achieve a more complete student learning process. Tutorial lectures are an option given to the students to assist them both in the academic or personal field. The e-learning platforms are strategic tools to increase the teaching efficacy, and also to make easier the access to knowledge.
Applying information and communication technologies (ICT) to the tutorial lectures contributes to its enrichment. In the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) we have a virtual environment called “Campus Virtual” (CV); it is a good source to carry out the tutorial lectures, but nowadays is not very used among teachers. The unification CV-UCM as a set of virtual spaces and tools can be suitable to support learning, teaching, investigation and teaching management, and at the same time is always available to the university community.
To promote the use of the “virtual tutorial lectures” is capital to develop a method to guide these sessions during the year. As a guide for teachers that are interested in finding implements to evolve a useful tutorial system we suggest a methodology based on two fundamental facts; to determine the competences which students should reach along the year and to design specific activities to achieve these abilities.
The most frequent difficulties found when developing an efficient tutorial lectures plan are; the high number of students and the differing time commitments between teachers and students. These could be solved with these new technologies.
It is necessary to plan a method for the tutorial lectures of the academic year, for which is capital to determine the competences that the students must reach along the year, and the specific activities for it. So, we can affirm that using the ICT in the tutorial lectures field is a resort that should be more deeply explored.
