Abstract:
Our working group carries out research into new models of evaluation and learning within the Educational Innovation Project “The application of e-portfolios in learning and assessment methods of university teaching”, directed by Dr. María Rosario Martín-Briceño. This project forms part of the eighth edition of the Innovation in Education Program of the University Rey Juan Carlos.
Our aim is to encourage students to take a more active role in the learning process. In order to achieve this goal we have decided to introduce a system of evaluation and learning through e-portfolios in courses in the different Degrees at the University Rey Juan Carlos.
The students have used the e-portfolios which have contributed to their learning process. The teacher is able to monitor the progression of the students and to oblige them to maintain their studies up to date. The e-portfolio, as a learning tool, allows teachers to make available different documents that assist students in gaining a greater understanding of the subject matter.
In this communication we will analyze the efficiency in the use of e-portfolios and their impact on student learning and assessment.
