Abstract:
The preservation and conservation of historical architecture represents today an issue of some account, especially in Italy. Since the second post-war period the definition of monument has expanded: on the one hand, new kinds of artefacts have begun to be preserved (historical centres, rural buildings, industrial archaeology); on the other hand, as regards the artefact itself, it has become necessary to preserve the stratifications formed in the building through historical phases. Especially in the academic and didactics context, it is necessary to develop subject intrinsic techniques and educational experiences, as well as meta-projects to work out possible solutions to such complexity. Among the continuing education (Formazione Permanente) proposals and extracurricular activities offered by the Politecnico di Milano to integrate and strengthen the university educational process, the didactic course Preservation Reuse Design (PRD-Masterclass) was specifically thought and designed for students from “Architettura delle Costruzioni”. The course was sponsored by Europe Union funds and they so called “Dote formazione”, the financial instrument offered by the Lombardy region, which provides students with the opportunity to ask the education system formative proposals suited to their real demands. Our research work is organized into three sections.
The first section concerns the PRD-Masterclass educational programming phase: the organization of the educational proposals (considering the distinction between corsi trasversali and corsi tematici) and the choice of different didactic methods, on the basis of variable factors such as students number and the subject taught; particular attention is given to the concepts of multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity, the relation they have to each other and their impact on the educational process.
The second section, under the heading InFormAction, is focused on the theoretical framework concerning motivation and how motivation can be developed through the didactics. Furthermore, this section presents some theoretical and practical tools concerning Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and communicative modalities applicable to didactics, as well as the professional reality.
The third section deals with the planning of an overall conservation and reuse design scheme, starting from the analysis of some case studies. Presenting a research trip in China, with attention to historical and contemporary architecture in Beijin, the last part of our research work is focused on international communication, where two disciplines belonging to two different domains encounter: linguistics and architecture. Keywords:
Preservation Design, Comunication.
