Abstract:
The implementation of the university convergence project developed by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) was a challenge for the entire university community. Consequently, there are numerous ICT-related tools that have appeared with the purpose of promoting new teaching methodologies and evaluation mechanisms in university education, thus facilitating the digitization process of higher education centers. The use of interactive tools in university teaching triggers a set of advantages for both teachers and students. The implementation of innovative applications in traditional master classes are elements that allow increasing the participation, attention and interest of students, by supporting the establishment of academic and training knowledge. From the point of view of the teaching staff, the use of interactive applications as part of the teaching methodology allows supporting the teaching and learning process, thanks to the ease of using this tool and the obtaining of instant feedback from the students. For this reason, this paper presents the experience of using the Mentimeter tool in some subjects of the Degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE) and the Degree in Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia. This multifunctional tool in university teaching can be described from a double perspective. From the point of view of the teaching staff, the main purpose is to increase their motivation through the development of interactive presentations, which allow them to obtain instant feedback from students. In addition, from the students’ perspective, it aims to encourage their participation and increase their motivation. Finally, this work presents some conclusions about the advantages of the implementation of Mentimeter. Specifically, students value very positively the use of this application, highlighting its ease of use and its playful nature, thus supporting the foundation of the knowledge transmitted during the sessions taught.
