Abstract:
This paper presents the designing and development of an e-training program customised to all stakeholders across the supply chain of rice and cereals.
The scope of the e-training program is to provide supply chain stakeholders a reliable and easily accessible source of specialized knowledge, advanced, scientifically and technically updated, which can facilitate the development of less adopted skills and enhance professional capabilities.
A field research was conducted in Greece during 2017, which maps the current skills & competencies profiles of the professionals working at the agricultural & food supply chain. The main training needs are based on the knowledge, skills and competencies cultivated in the areas of management, business, personal maturity, technology, socialization and logistics, as well as green and sustainable development.
Moreover, we present the utilization of a web-based open-source learning management system for the development of the e-training program. Issues concerning the structure of learning material, the presentation of content, and self-assessment are of critical importance for the implementation of an effective e-training program. Keywords:
