Abstract:
The development of digital tools will change society profoundly, so that the traditional methods used, the content and roles of actors in education (students and teachers) will undergo major changes. This will positively influence the preparation of education beneficiaries to adapt to tomorrow's digital society. The use of artificial intelligence in education removes many barriers, making learning global (with reference to language, geographical space, moment in time, learners' customizations, ensuring among others the education of people with special needs). With artificial intelligence, education changes: administrative tasks are simplified and automated, intelligent and certified content is added (certification ensures the integrity and origin of the online content). With the development of digital tools and artificial intelligence, the role of teachers must not diminish (teachers will probably never be truly replaced by artificial intelligence, but AI nevertheless becomes a valuable tool that teachers and students can call upon). This development has become a reality and already digital tools are being used by students with or without the will of teachers (or sometimes with their total opposition). This article presents the results of a study carried out in two Romanian universities in the SW Oltenia region, in Romania. The study presents the responses of students and teachers regarding the use of digital tools (cloud-based services, digital signature, artificial intelligence) in education. It also presents the answers of students and teachers regarding the acceptance of the use of machine learning tools to solve the scholastic requirements, the ways of using these tools as well as their influence on the educational environment, for the personalization of learning. Rapid evolution of the role of artificial intelligence will create new pedagogical possibilities that take place in real time (simulations, translations), opening up new possibilities for learning foreign languages, summarizing and interpreting texts, interactive simulation of real processes. Education will receive a major boost through the use of digital tools that will help both learners and teachers collaborate and communicate effectively.
