Abstract:
The Web 2.0 arrival has brought a revolution in the world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It has allowed that any Internet user is able to produce and consume information. The standardization of services such as blogs, wikis, online office automation, etc., enables its application not only in work environments and leisure times but also in educational environments. In this last area there are two ways of using new technologies via web: the virtual campuses and Web 2.0. Virtual campuses, such as Moodle and WebCT, are web-closed environments where the teaching-learning process is carried out. The main disadvantage of these environments is that the student acquires the skill to use them but in the most cases he/she will not be able to give a professional use of these ICTs skills. On the other hand, Web 2.0 tools may also have an educational use. The arrival of the European Higher Education Area involves the need to incorporate ICT tools in order to train the students. In this work, the use of Web 2.0 and other free distribution tools together with Google Sites is proposed to improve the teaching-learning process within the paradigm of formative assesment.
