THE BACKGROUND OF CREATING A NEW SUPPORT CENTER FOR JUNIOR STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS “LIFE COACH”

Abstract:
In the last decades there have been many significant social and economic changes in Russia, that initiated the ongoing modernization of the economy and public institutions required new approaches to the training of a person who has an attitude to rational use of time and to design personal professional future and capability to cooperate in the context of globalization. Human intellect and creativity are becoming a leading factor in economic growth and national competitiveness. The main issues of the educational process are students’ mental health, individual educational approaches in studying, working out of psychologically safe and convenient educational environment. That is, we encounter with the issue of supporting and accompanying a student. The objective of support provision is to establish the comfortable social and psychological terms and conditions for developing successful studies. The objectives of developing mean potentially possible personal changes in terms of awareness, capabilities and core values, which are simultaneously important for solving the problems of education, and for the individual development of the student. The aim of research is to explore the principles of elaborating the leading students’ abilities, to analyze the growth experience and consolidation of mental health, including the development of the personality of students in the learning process. Methods. During the research, the following methods were applied: a pedagogical survey which allows to allocate personal adaptive attitudes and students’ needs during different periods of studies; mathematics analysis and synthesis of information, which helped to compare the results of the survey. Mathematical method helps to reveal statistical regularities in personal skills development, student’s daily routine and psychological issues in the process of learning and interpersonal interaction. More than 90 students were voluntarily interviewed under the survey. Approximately 75% of interviewees expressed a need for psychological and social support in the learning process that is a good prerequisite for the creation of “Life Coach” Center on the basis of educational institutions. The activities of the center should be based on both individual and group support programs, including different students’ level and specialties, and provide friendly environment for all the participants who want to run their lives and realize their talents and skills. Conclusion. Survey showed the following students’ needs during their entering higher educational institutions and their studies: intrapersonal and interpersonal issues, social issues, family problems, health problems and adaptations. Competences of the “Life Coach” center can help to solve such issues and problems among as junior as senior students.
