Abstract:
The implementation of relational coordination mechanisms in different sector has reached positive results in terms of performance in organizations with highly interdependent tasks, uncertainty, time restrictions and tacit knowledge. In this research, the relational coordination model has been applied to prove higher level of quality and higher degrees of satisfaction with the learning management system in virtual courses. According to the model, organization can improve their performance by providing frequent, timely and problem solving communication mechanisms to support shared knowledge, in a context of shared goals and mutual respect. Participants in virtual courses at Universidad Técnica de Ambato, from Ecuador, have been surveyed in these particular issues. The results have helped the university to evaluate the efficiency of the processes, the importance of different roles in the department and the quality of its learning management system. The conclusions should be taken into account by educational institutions when they redesign the e-learning process for the improvement of quality.
