Abstract:
The term "Wiki Education" is inspired in this paper by the two books of Don Tapscott and Anthony Wiliams: (2008 and 2010): Wikinomics How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything and Macrowikinomics: Rebooting Business and the World together with Simone, (2010), Wiki Government: How Technology Can Make Government Better, Democracy Stronger, and Citizens More Powerful. The term "Wiki Education" is used here to refer to the possibility of outsourcing the internet to improve educational policy-making and create new teaching methodologies characterized by openness, collaboration, sharing, integrity, and interdependence. The paper intends to show how the internet can be facilitated to tab the free expertise of many sources, including citizens, to improve the educational methods and processes. For this purpose the paper reviews first the previous efforts to improve the educational processes and outcomes. These efforts made experts as the only reference for reform and improvements of educational policy and methods. The basic assumption here is that these efforts constitute the concrete foundations for the concept of wiki education which advises the free utilization of expert and non-expert talents to improve policy making in government and management.
