Abstract:
The paper is focused on the importance of intellectual tourism development in the process of globalization. Intellectual tourism is a type of tourism the main goal of which is to get educated and enlightened.

The objective of our research is compilation and design of the encyclopedic multimedia associative dictionary “St. Petersburg in the works of world-famous people”. Special attention is paid to the social aspect of the encyclopedic multimedia dictionary. The notion of the social aspect of the dictionary is connected with the notion of social heterogeneity, hence, categories of the social aspect have much in common with categories of social heterogeneity, such as gender, cultural, professional, age-related, and individual differences. We study cultural and age-related differences as the most important, because professional and individual differences are too diverse and insignificant to be taken in consideration.

Our dictionary is meant for people of different ages, who are interested in history and culture of St. Petersburg, know Russian or English, understand how to use multimedia means, and have at least primary education. This dictionary is aimed at describing life and works of world-famous people of St. Petersburg in the most comprehensive way, as well as, attracting tourists of different ages and cultures to this historic place, and, thus, contribute to development of international relations.
