Abstract:
A meaningful and suitable job is one of the most important criteria for a high level of quality of life of people with severe visual impairment. This research is focused on what difficulties and shortcomings these individuals perceive to be important in the forced change of employment in relation to assisting organizations, family and the level of awareness.

Methods:
Qualitative research methods were used in the survey. Data collection was conducted through interviews with clients in the selected region. Interviewees were people of adult age who were forced to change jobs, or even the qualification itself, due to the acquired disability.

The results:
Research shows that clients after the occurrence of disability are less informed not only about the organizations providing counseling services, but also about the possibilities of a new job. Family plays an important role for mastering a new job as long as internal motivation, which is gradually increasing on the basis of information not only about the visually impairment itself, but also about the services and options available in the new situation.
Keywords:
Visual impairment, employment, counselling services, motivation.
