Abstract:

The number of students with disabilities in the Czech Republic has been increasing recently. There is not only the integration, but also the segregation. This paper focuses on the teachers´ attitudes to the integration of pupils with visual impairment.

Methods:
The quantitative research methods for the data collection were used. The data were collected through the questionnaires. The questionnaires were aimed at the teachers in the mainstream schools in the Olomouc region. In the Czech Republic, the Olomouc region is one of the best in the integration of pupils with disabilities.

Results:
Due to the results of the research it is possible to evaluate the current state of the integration. The comparison of the teachers´ attitudes brought interesting findings. One part of the teachers thinks successful integration of the individuals with sensory impairment depends on the extent of disability. But up to 50 % of the teachers´ attitudes shows, that they are not prepared for the integration of pupils with visual impairment. These teachers often have over 20 years of practice and went through the process of development of integrated education in the Czech Republic.
