Abstract:
Competence for working with computer technology is considered one of the key competencies and its inclusion in educational programs is a matter of course. In ICT competence, it is simply the ability to use information technology for their work. ICT knowledge and skills include basic control of the operating system, working with files, backup, sorting, basic knowledge of computer technology, creation of documents, protocols, etc. ICT competencies of course include a wider range of knowledge, knowledge and skills, however, at a time when defined, it has not developed as rapidly in the field of digitization as it is today.
The content of the term "digitization" is far from just about technology as a technical means (ICT), but about the overall development and changes in the use of digital technologies (Industry 4.0), access to work and new methods, perceptions of new societal values and fulfillment of one's personal life (Society 4.0 ) (Prouza, 2011).
Digitization fundamentally changes the culture and values of the new generation, creates conditions for the virtual environment, new interests, the nature of work. Concepts such as cyberphysical models, digital twins, software platforms, neural networks, disruptive technologies, artificial intelligence, etc. are becoming a common part of work in industry and services, and it is therefore very important to set the right direction in educating high school students, especially at secondary industrial schools and grammar schools. Pupils should already be prepared for the changes that are taking place in these areas of human activity. We found out how high school students are in the field of digital competences, and how much importance they attach to them in the current labor market, through a survey, which we conducted using a special anonymous questionnaire published on the Internet. A by-product of the survey is the self-reflection of high school students about their own current digital competencies, and their level, which they should achieve in the future. Keywords:
