Abstract:
Training of specialists based on digital educational resources at the university is becoming vital nowadays as the modern period of development of society is characterized by intensive use of information technologies that penetrate into all spheres of human activity and form a global information space. An integral and important part of these processes is to make digital educational resources serve the goals of education. One of the resources for implementation of the above issues is the Microsoft Teams online platform, which has a powerful functionality for teaching foreign languages. As practice shows, the use of digital technologies in the educational space is currently particularly relevant. This paper discusses the issue of determining advantages and disadvantages of using the Microsoft Teams online platform when teaching foreign languages to students of the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Technologies of Kazan Federal University. Attention is paid to training the students on the platform under consideration in all types of speech activity such as speaking, reading, writing, and listening as well as vocabulary and grammar, which is constantly changing due to the improvement of the educational process based on new scientific discoveries. The role of this platform in the process of training and self-education of future specialists under the guidance of a teacher is noted. The results of the study propose the ways of improving teaching methods in training foreign languages by using digital educational resources. The methods the study was based on are observation, analysis and comparison, training-practice-control. The results of the study showed that the use of the Microsoft Teams online platform provides opportunities to save and effectively use the study time for both students and educators. Surveys conducted at the end of the experimental teaching-learning process proved that the proposed method enhances students’ motivation to work harder as modern students prefer modern digital technologies. Teaching foreign languages with the use the platform under consideration contributes to the modernization of education and the improvement of the quality of training. The results obtained can make a certain contribution to pedagogical science.
