Abstract:
Innovative learning technologies (such as ChatGPT, Jasper Chat, Chatsonic) based on AI language model are transforming the way university students learn and engage with course materials. These technologies stem to make the teaching methodology more interactive, engaging, and accessible to all students, regardless of their learning style or ability. These models use the natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) algorithms, to process large amounts of data and extract meaningful insights. This makes them particularly useful in educational settings where there is a wealth of data available, including textbooks, academic papers, student profiles and assessments feedbacks. By incorporating AI into innovative learning technologies, universities can provide students with a richer and more engaging learning experience.

AI language-based tools, offer several opportunities and challenges for both students and lecturers. Here are some of them:
Examples of Challenges for Students:
•Learning curve: ChatGPT is an advanced AI technology, and students may need some time to get used to interacting with an AI language model. It may require them to adapt to the conversational interface and learn how to use it effectively.
•Dependence on technology: Students may become too reliant on Chatsonic and start depending on it for all their academic needs. This can be a problem if they don't develop their own critical thinking.

Examples of Challenges for Lecturers:
•Maintaining academic standards: Lecturers need to ensure that the information provided byChatsonic/Jasper chat is accurate and aligned with academic standards.
•Ensuring student engagement: Chatsonic can make it easier for students to get answers to their questions, but it can also lead to a lack of engagement with the lecturer. Lecturers need to find ways to encourage students to participate in class discussions and activities.

Examples of Opportunities for Students:
•Improved Learning Experience: Jasper Chat can provide students with an immersive learning experience by answering their questions, providing additional information, and offering personalized feedback.
•Enhanced Creativity: ChatGPT can also help students generate new ideas and insights by offering alternative perspectives and encouraging critical thinking.

Examples of Opportunities for Lecturers:
•Enhanced Teaching: Chatsonic can help lecturers offer more personalized and tailored teaching to their students. By analysing student interactions with the AI language model, lecturers can identify areas where students need more help.
•Automated grading: AI language models can grade assignments and exams automatically.

Overall, AI language-based models such as ChatGPT/Jasper Chat/Chatsonic has the potential to offer many benefits to university students and lecturers, but it is important to use it as a supplement to, rather than a replacement for, traditional teaching and learning methods.

In this discussion paper, researcher(s) will explore and identify various innovative learning technologies such as ChatGPT and determine whether those could be used in BPP University, United Kingdom and how they could transform the way their apprenticeship students learn and engage with course materials. How this technology provides students with access to a wide range of resources? How this technology promotes flexibility and autonomy in learning, and enable collaboration and communication among students and lecturers?
