Abstract:
The new professional need for human resources management is beginning to be partially manifested in the concepts of leadership, talent development, or diversity management. The human resources function in military organizations will participate significantly more in the added value of the 21st century. The authors' effort is to closer explain the issue of leadership and its specifics in a military environment. At the same time, the aim of the authors is to inform about the results of the research that they carried out in the conditions of the Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. The aforementioned analytical study contributes to the improvement of the quality of the Slovak Armed Forces in the area of management processes and, at the same time, to increase the level of military capabilities through the career training of soldiers of the Slovak Armed Forces with the aim of effective training of future military leaders. During the research, certain elements of empirical descriptive research were applied to determine the real quantitative and qualitative situation in the subject area. Scientific methods of research, mainly analysis and synthesis, a survey/questionnaire aimed at finding out the current state of education of soldiers in the Slovak Armed Forces and in selected the Central Europe countries are used in order to make a comparison of career education in the mentioned area. Subsequently, the interview method was used with commanders and officials at higher levels of management of the Slovak Armed Forces in order to determine their needs. Its use is a prerequisite for a sufficient analysis of vocational higher education and career education in the field of leadership in military education. The results of the research will be used to create a new model of professional education in the field of leadership for the Slovak Armed Forces.
