Abstract:
In this paper we aim to present some theoretical and practical aspects relevant for the training and development of German literacy skills of native Romanian students enrolled in German language schools. Literacy skills are an important aspect for the integration of all individuals into social life and into the labour market. From pre-school onwards, Romanian children who choose to enrol in a German-language school face difficulties in developing literacy and language skills. Preventive measures are proposed in the form of a month-long intervention using audio and written texts to see if this method can bring improvements in the development of literacy skills. The intervention is implemented for the purpose of a comparative analysis between a village school and a city school where subjects are taught exclusively in German. The effects of the intervention are measured by testing students before and after the educational intervention. The intervention, through the methods and means used, aims to support both primary school teachers and pupils who have difficulties in acquiring these literacy and language skills in a language other than their native language.
