Abstract:
Ranking Web of World Universities is an important universities’ ranking that reflects the overall web performance of the universities in terms of presence, impact, openness, and excellence.

The main purposes of this study are to:
(i) present and analyze the Ranking Web of Arab World universities using January 2017 data,
(ii) study and analyze the web sites of the top 20 Arab World universities in Webometric Ranking using its sources: google, Ahrefs, Majestic, and Google Scholar Citations, and
(iii) develop best practices to help Arab World universities to have an adequate web presence and improve their rank in terms of overall and indicators’ ranks.

The study found only one university exists in the top 500 and seven universities exist in top 1000. Also, findings indicated that impact is the main weakness of the universities in the top 20 Arab World universities in which no university exists in top 500. The present study is one of the few studies that examined and analyzed in details the web sites of Arab World universities. The study develops best practices for improving the websites of Arab World universities based on the webometric analysis conducted in this study and indicators of Ranking Web of World Universities.
