Abstract:
The design of a webquest about “Hydrogen and Fuel Cells” has been developed in this research. This topic is one of the six topics included in the subject “Technology of Complementary Fuels”. This subject is given in the first semester of the fourth course of Energy Engineer Degree at the University of Vigo. This degree is only being implemented in the first course. The teaching guidelines are being designed following Bologna principles. For that reason, a webquest has been chosen as innovative material to introduce some aspects of the subject.
The principal objectives of this webquest are focussed on discovering of which is the role of hydrogen in the energy economy next decades; what are the principal aspects for a hydrogen economy; which technological challenges to it; advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen as fuel related to petroleum-based fuels; environmental benefits of its use; hydrogen production; storage and delivering; fuel cells; hydrogen in transportation. Furthermore, the webquest allows to develop transversal competencies.
The students will be assigned to class groups to do the activity. Each team will pick one topic to research and will write a paper answering different questions about that topic. Finally, each team will have to present slides talk as a resume of all studied topics during 15-20 min.
Students’ work will be evaluated by means of auto-evaluation, peer evaluation and scores. Groups will be ranked on the quality of information, the visual aspects of the presentations and team work attitude. Keywords:
