Abstract:
The Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) is the second official language of Brazil. This fact was regulated by Law 10.436 of April 24, 2002, which deals with the dissemination of LIBRAS by the government, encouraging the accessibility and inclusion of deaf people in society. Despite the laws and incentives to practice the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS), the percentage of the population speaking this language is still small. In addition, incentives for the popularization of Libras and the inclusion of deaf people in society are still scarce. This context creates an important research opportunity. In order to promote the teaching of LIBRAS, in this research we developed a game for mobile applications for teaching and practicing Libras. The game, called LibrasPlay, is designed for both deaf people, listeners and the general public who wants to learn the language in a relaxed and didactic way. We conducted an observational study to evaluate the application. The results show that although the LibrasPlay has been easily used by the participants, there are defects to be corrected and improvements to be made. Keywords:
