Abstract:
This paper deals with the position of graduates in the Czech labour market. We focused on the educational structure of the population in the Czech Republic, the unemployment rate of the population according to obtained degree, development of the number of graduates entering in the labour market. We shall explore the view of graduates on the transition from university to job and the unemployment rate of graduates. The aim of the paper is to analyze the obtained dataset in order to describe the current state of labour market with regards to graduates. The analysis of empirical data shows that the chances of finding job opportunities are directly proportional to the level of educational attainment. We explore the impact of the economic crisis, including rising unemployment on the situation of university graduates in the labour market in the Czech Republic. Fears of a rise in the unemployment rate of university graduates due to an increase of their number are not confirmed. Although the labour market in the Czech Republic enters a growing number of university-educated candidates, the demand is still there.
