Abstract:
The content of teaching specialized subjects at the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Zilina, Slovakia is adapted to the requirements of a knowledge-based society, in order to contribute to the education of highly qualified and flexible young professionals who are capable, with strong competencies in relevant economic, technical and social sciences, to find their employment in public administration, enterprises, firms and companies from various sectors of the economy. The study is focused on gaining theoretical knowledge in the form of lectures, seminars, consultations, but also on gaining practical experience from scientific research work at the Faculty, e.g. through Student Scientific and Professional activities.

The aim of the paper is to present the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Žilina (FSE UNIZA) students. The questionnaire survey examined whether the FSE UNIZA activities aimed at linking science, research and education, through individual creative and professional activities of students, contribute to the acquisition of new knowledge and increase their competencies, i.e. the abilities to solve problems creatively and critically, identify them, analyse and propose solutions to increase the resilience of critical entities providing essential services for the maintenance of vital societal functions or economic activities, as well as the employability of graduates in the labour market.

The results of the survey will contribute to the enhancement of the FSE UNIZA activities aimed at connecting science, research and education, as well as to improving the theoretical basis of education and increasing students' practical and professional experience in ensuring the resilience of critical infrastructure entities.
