Abstract:
In the dual education system, a secondary vocational school participates in the preparation of the student as well as in the company with which the student or his / her legal representative signs the contract. It is important that both sides are professionally prepared for education of students. For teachers it means the professional standard of the teacher. The necessary standard defines a teacher standard of professional competence for standard teacher performance in three broadly conceived dimensions - student focus, learning process and teacher self-development in a core and specific competence structure. A number of researches deal with teacher competence assessment, but a few of them are dedicated to vocational education teachers (VET). At the time when dual education is introduced in Slovakia, VET competence research has a major impact, especially for VET education planning and further education. The survey published in the text is focused on the assessment of the competences of VET teachers in companies and in the Secondary School of Stará Turá, conducted by means of a questionnaire for self-assessment of competences and observation of the masters in education. We have found that there is a difference in the assessment of competences by VET teachers from schools and companies. Vocational education teachers assess their competences more positively than VET and instructors in companies. We also found that there was no statistically significant difference in the assessment of the competences monitored by the VET and assessor.
