Abstract:
Active learning methodologies are a good teaching-learning resource, which may be combined with traditional methodologies to improve the learning process in a first course on Fundamentals of Manufacturing. This subject is part of the study plan of the third course of an undergraduate Engineering degree in Industrial Technologies. In this present study, an active learning methodology is applied for teaching Metal Forming. This content is part of the syllabus of Fundamentals of Manufacturing. In order to achieve the proposed objectives with this experience, students also had the support of the instructor during the active learning activity with the aim of solving questions that could arise during the experience. The objective was to achieve student’s cooperation to take responsibility for their group and to organize and direct the learning process, both with and without support from the instructor. The present study also analyses and compares results obtained in two groups of students of this Engineering degree. It has been obtained that it is possible to teach content to students efficiently through active learning.
