Abstract:
Technological innovations of the last time endow the teacher with a wide spectrum of didactical and pedagogical tools. A vantage point of using such tools is especially notable in music education. Music is the ideal media for the teacher to approbate new approaches and to create innovative educational strategies. Modern market offers about seven hundred music software that can be adapted for educational purposes. At the same time, some particular areas, such as music appreciation, music history, harmony, and analysis, still remain either virtually uncovered by music software, or their ways of presenting material do not fit the instructor’s professional goals.

MA (Multimedia applications) created by instructors themselves have a potential to fill this lacuna and respond personal professional needs of the instructor. They will eventually enable instructor to create vibrating interdisciplinary environment, encroaching various data from adjacent disciplines in the humanities, social and natural science.

In this presentation I aim to demonstrate practical aspects of using multimedia applications. My principal innovation is an applying of a wide range technological tools and their adaptation for the teaching purposes. I use various software (music notation software, sequencer software, graphic editing software, Microsoft Office tools) integrating them all within the Power Point environment.

During the last four years I advance this project in my teaching practice in the fields of music appreciation, history and theory of music, harmony and analysis in the high school. My personal practical experience proved the efficacy of teaching music through intense use multimedia applications.
My eventual goal is to broaden and advance music instruction by employing the user friendly multimedia applications appropriate both for instructors and students and constructing the systematic pedagogical process that covers a complete curriculum of disciplines for the high school’ music departments.
