Abstract:
In this text, we aim to present the curricular design developed in the course “ICT in Educational Contexts” of the PhD programme in Education at the Universidade Aberta (Open University Portugal). We also aim to reflect on the curriculum design, in the context of open education, namely its integration within Networked Educational Technologies, using either the Blended (e)Learning modality or the Flipped Learning strategy. Under those theoretical frameworks, it is important to recognize the fact that the Wikification of texts was done in the MediaWiki software, which allowed to trigger a wide range of dimensions at a literate level, skills and competences that we designate as Wikiliteracies.
Those literacies, combined with the pedagogical model of the institution, allowed to reinforce one of the aspects inherent to the innovative curricular approach envisioned. This, in turn, is embodied in virtual learning environments centered on active methodologies, privileging the student/knowledge axis, in the perspective of the pedagogical triangle. From the data collected, in our case study research, we conclude that the curriculum designed was effective, as it reached the planned level of learning, gave rise to significant learning and catered for the interactions between the various actors involved in the learning process.
In short, the PhD course curricular design we developed evidences a successful example of our pedagogical model, carried out in the curricular integration of Wikipedia in Higher Education, specifically in the context of the Open University Portugal. In other words, it illustrates a WikiPedogogy practice within the WEIWER® pedagogical model of the International Academic Network WEIWER® (Wikis, Educação & Investigação / Wikis, Education & Research), highlighting the role of blended (e)learning in distance online Higher Education.
