Abstract:
The presented paper deals with the knowledge gained by research focused on the use of 3D printers in the teaching process in secondary technical schools. Nowadays, 3D printing is used mainly as a supplement to traditional production technologies (machining, casting, forming, pressing and others). Secondary vocational schools face the challenge of preparing experts capable of managing 3D printing technologies from initial model design to its actual realization. The aim of the field team action research was to map the current situation in the field of teaching 3D printing technologies at secondary technical schools. Respondents from the first to the fourth year of secondary technical schools were involved. The method of observation, interview and questionnaire survey was used to obtain the necessary information. The most important monitored items were twofold: SW (software) used for creation of 3D models and their subsequent modification before the 3D printing and technologies used for actual 3D printing (FDM - Fused Deposition Modelling, SLA stereo lithography, SLS - Selective - Laser - Sintering). The results of the research show that 3D technologies are taught most often in several specialized subjects that complement each other, or in optional subjects. An important part of teaching is represented by student projects led by teachers.
