Abstract:
A collaborative group of professors have been worked on and implemented a Mentorship Program or Tutorial Action Plan (PAT), called “Get prepared for the Bachelor´s Degree Final Project” at the Faculty of Pharmacy-University of Granada along 2014-2018 academic courses (http://farmacia.ugr.es/preparatfg; “Prepárate para el Trabajo Fin de Grado”).
The main purpose of the PAT “Get prepared for the Bachelor´s Degree Final Project” has been, during the developed editions, to offer to the university students in the last courses of the Degrees in Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, and Human Nutrition and Dietetics, of the University of Granada, the possibility of carrying out specific training activities for acquiring skills and abilities needed for the proper and effective development of their Bachelor´s Degree Final Project (TFG).
To achieve these objectives, the training activities offered during the different PAT editions have been modified for continuously improving the outcome. These changes have been motivated, mainly, by the results of the opinion questionnaires made to the participants in the PAT.
Previous results and the opinions derived from the previous editions have been taken into account, and currently the training activities offered in the 2017/2018 PAT edition are summarized as follows:
• How to do a bibliographic search for the TFG.
• How to write a TFG.
• How to control stress during the TFG.
• How to speak in public during the defense of the TFG.
• Know experiences of graduates of the TFG.
In the current edition the overall satisfaction with the PAT by the university students has reached the highest overall satisfaction score within all editions, with a positive or very positive evaluation for more than 90% of the cases. In the same line the satisfaction with the offered training activities during the current edition reached also the highest rating, more than 90% of the university students rated them positively or very positively. Finally, in the current edition, more than 90% of the university students considered very interesting to continue with future editions of the PAT integrating training activities of the PAT in the TFG subject of Degrees in Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, and Human Nutrition and Dietetics offered at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Granada. As in previous editions, the PAT has obtained the support of the Decanal Team of the Faculty and the activities of the PAT have been included in the aforementioned Degrees. On the other hand, all of the teachers-tutors valued very highly the implementation of the PAT and its positive impact and usefulness.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the evolution of the implantation of the Tutorial Action Plan “Get prepared for the Bachelor´s Degree Final Project” is being very satisfactory and has been widely accepted by all participants (university students, teachers-tutors and decanal team). Therefore, we propose its implementation in all University Degrees that mandatorily include in their study plans Bachelor´s Degree Final Project, since it facilitates the necessary information / skills to assure a self-sufficient work of the university students. Keywords:
