THE EXPERIENCE IN POSTGRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMS OF TEACHERS AT UNIVERSITY OF VERACRUZ: MEXICO – SPAIN CASE

Abstract:
Since 1997 the University of Veracruz (UV) initiated an academic reform, in order to establish a program of academic improvement for development and professionalization of academics. This program intended to clarify the meaning of joints looking to reach between theoretical conceptions, working methodologies and everyday practices in the academic task. One of the actions, within several, it is in the preparation of academics in postgraduate programs, both in Mexico and abroad, in conjunction with the financial support of teacher improvement program (PROMEP) - program at federal level that supports scholars to develop professional-building.
More than 389 academics have been receiving the benefits of this strengthening academic plant, of which 22 have studied in North America (United States and Canada), 127 in Europe (European Community), 35 in Centre and South America and 205 in Mexico. There are no requests for any Asian countries. The terminal efficiency is of 66 per cent of the total index. The choice of areas of knowledge and universities where develop these studies has been guided by the rankings of excellence at the international level. From the total, 27 correspond to the Arts area, 78 Agricultural Biological area, 54 are the Health area, 84 to Economic area, 68 of the Humanities area and 78 through the Technical area. Scholars return has made it possible to establish another dynamic work, where productivity standards have improved by putting it in evidence with the production of books, research, publishing in indexed journals, reports income to the national system of researchers (SNI), among many other parameters.
There has been a change in the style of work and other dynamics of communication has been established; so that since February 2009, a research group has been given to the task of identifying and assimilate the benefits in the context you received the UV by the preparation of their scholars abroad, especially those who have graduated in Spanish universities - MA and/or PhD programs -. The above-mentioned index analysis determined that 22% scholars (87) applied to study at a University in Spain. So, that parameter gets relevance to discuss, both the criteria used in their choice, as in the benefits which have brought such studies to the UV. This work is part of the lessons learned during training in postgraduate research field specifically to the personal and subjective experience of individual lives during their vocational training in Spain. This research aims to: show how the enrichment in the teaching - learning process increasing generic skills and promoting positive change in academic activities and at the same time linking most strongly the teaching and research, with the establishment of strategies for achieving quality postgraduate program. The study will have a qualitative approach because it results in depth interviews.
