HOW TO CONTROL THE LEARNING OF A SUBJECT OF LINEAR ALGEBRA STEP BY STEP, USING MOODLE AND PICASST

Abstract:
Within the agenda of Linear Algebra at the University, the diagonalization of endomorphisms is one of the most difficult issues to deal with students through online teaching. In this paper we use the tools of moodle in order to use its CONDITIONAL options, so that students can track the item step by step, so that it can access only one step in this area if he has previously passed certain tasks considered by the teacher. In the design of these tasks and for preparing the teacher materials for the Virtual Campus Course we also use Picasst, a video processing tool created by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to facilitate teaching on line.
For example, when we finish the Chapter 4 of Liinear Applications, we ask for an exercise about it and then we use the condition to pass this proof before to access to the notes of diagonalization of endomorphisms.
The process could be the next one:
1.- The student has to send an exercise using the Virtual Campus
2.- The teacher add a condition to access to the notes of the next chapter.
3.- This condition is to pass the exercise
4.- When the student get a mark greater or iqual to 50/100 he can see the next part of the subject.
